According to this tour plan you will transfer to Kalpitiya beach area. It’s about 140 Km away from Airport and it will take 3 hours. Despite its natural beauty, the western peninsular area of KALPITIYA in the Puttalam district of Sri Lanka. A sandy headland which keeps the Kalpitiya lagoon sheltered from the Indian Ocean, the blue water with a calm surface beacons the kite surfers to try the breeze coming across the peninsular towards the land and enjoy a trouble free ride without the hassle of a sudden guest, which as every kite surfer knows can be a trifle more than tricky to handle on a board. Kalpitiya is also the best place to see Dolphins and during the season you can witness Dolphin pods up to 1000 to 1500 members at most given times. Known hotspot for reef sharks, manta rays and occasionally turtles, in our opinion a week’s holiday here of snorkelling and diving will barely scratch the surface of what’s on offer. Leisurely boat rides up the lagoon and canoe trips down the river are a pleasant way of exploring the coastline, whilst 4WD jeep rides along the deserted sand dunes between the ocean and the lagoon offer a unique way of watching the colorful evening sunsets. For keen scuba divers and snorkelers, the largest coral reef in Sri Lanka (‘Bar reef') is only an hour's boat trip from Kalpitiya . This beautiful reef is home to an incredible variety of tropical fish as well as offering sighting of manta rays, reef sharks and the occasional turtle! The Dutch Fort and St Peter's Kerk church in the town itself are interesting examples of Sri Lanka's rich history and colonial past. Overnight You will stay at Kalpitiya Beach.
After the breakfast, we have arranged a boat ride, to see Dolphins, Kalpitiya is the best destination to see dolphins. It is a relatively new destination in Sri Lanka gaining prominence especially for its large pods of Spinner Dolphins off the coast. They were mainly seen in a belt that ran parallel to the Kalpitiya peninsula which was commonly known as the Dolphin Line. But while Dolphin Watching in Kalpitiya is now one of the main attractions in Sri Lanka, there are other water-based adventures, for those looking to do so much more during their stay here If you prefer, we can arrange Snorkeling trips in Kalpitiya, It is home to the Bar Reef, Sri Lanka’s largest living coral reef, making it a snorkeling haven The Bar Reef: The Bar Reef is a two hour boat ride your hotel and offers one of the finest snorkeling opportunities in Sri Lanka. It has the greatest biodiversity of coral in the region, with a vibrant colored underwater paradise of over 150 coral species. Spanning 3 nautical miles in length and 1 nautical mile in breadth, Bar Reef is the largest reef in Sri Lanka and has lovely, clear water that is perfect for viewing underwater delights. Among the pristine coral you can see over 280 species of tropical fish, mollusks, manta rays, reef sharks and even sea turtles. St. Anne’s Reef: Those looking for a snorkeling experience closer to the resort can head to St. Anne’s Reef, which is just half an hour away by boat.
